Bruno Le Cam

As an INRAE Research Director, I lead the ECOFUN team and coordinate the BONUS MALUS research group, which brings together all research activities conducted at the Angers site on apple and its associated organisms.

Trained as a plant pathologist, my research focuses on the dynamics of adaptation of Venturia inaequalis to its host. In particular, I seek to understand how the fungus has responded to the domestication of apple from Central Asia and how it adapts to the resistance factors it encounters in orchards.

More recently, I have initiated research on the reproductive biology of this ascomycete  which could lay the foundations for future innovative biocontrol strategies.
