I am a research scientist in phytopathology, and I study the evolution of aggressiveness (a quantitative trait) and virulence (a qualitative trait) in pathogen populations. I have previously conducted research on barley powdery mildew and apple powdery mildew. I am currently developing a research program on the evolution of pathogenicity in Venturia inaequalis populations during their interaction with apple trees (wild or cultivated), with the aim of increasing the durability of resistance by selecting resistance factors that are difficult for the pathogen to overcome and by integrating resistant varieties into a cropping system that increases their intrinsic durability.
