The BIDEFI team (BioInformatics for plant DEFense Investigation) is a multidisciplinary research team with expertise in computer science (development of pipelines, interfaces, databases), structural and functional genomics, genome evolution, transcriptome meta-analysis and statistics. Its research activities are organized around two main areas:

  • Identification and functional characterization of small secreted peptides involved in the control of plant development and/or defense mechanisms, with the aim of discovering new biocontrol tools.
  • Understanding the impact of environmental stresses on the evolutionary dynamics of gene families and Rosaceae genomes by developing statistical learning methodologies to improve genomic predictions.

The BIDEFI team is also involved in (i) teaching bioinformatics and statistics in Plant Biology, Biology and Health, Ecology and Data Science courses at the University of Angers; (ii) the DigiFilles and Declics awareness and communication programs.
