The CapZeroPhyto project proposes new crop protection strategies based on the combined use of levers to modulate plant defense mechanisms. Different levers are explored: genetic resistance, resistance induced by plant defense stimulators (PDS), UV-C flashes, nitrogen supply and service plants. This project focuses on different crops (apple, tomato, pepper, peach, strawberry). Within the framework of this project, the Ecofun team is interested in the sustainability of genetic and induced resistance of apple trees to Venturia inaequalis. We want to test the hypothesis that the combination of resistances limits the adaptability of the pathogen. The ability of V. inaequalis populations to adapt to resistance QTL, to PDS-induced defenses or to their combination is analyzed by two approaches:

• Characterization of the pathogenicity of V. inaequalis strains that have undergone or have not undergone the selection pressures exerted by QTL or SDP in orchards

• Characterization of the pathogenicity of progeny obtained from in vitro crosses between strains that are partially adapted
